How To Own Your Monday

Hello Monday! I am Ready

monday

Are you among the happy ones that hate Mondays? Does the thought of Monday after a nice and fun-filled weekend make you grumpy, groan and tired? Guess what? You are not the only one. There are lots of YOU (my old self included) that don’t like Mondays.  I used to dislike the sound of my alarm off on a Monday morning.  I occasionally will snooze till I am running late for work. Getting out of bed was a tedious and impossible task for me on Mondays.

monday morningBut lately, I have come to appreciates Monday more. these days, I tend to look forward to Mondays than Fridays. Yes, you read that right. I love the weekends and all the things that come with it but currently  Monday is my favorite day of the week. It didn’t happen overnight; I had to do some mind reset to love it.

The reason we dread Monday sometimes is because of the thought of “Oh it’s another week.” And that statement right there has a lot of meaning. For some it means another week of dealing with that annoying boss or colleagues, another week of stress, another week of working long hours and dealing with annoying customers. The list goes on. If that is you, I totally understand because I have been there. I have had those Mondays where I said “Oh it’s another week” with a sad long sigh.

My feelings about Monday have changed like I stated above. These are some of the tips that have helped me appreciate Mondays more. All it takes is a change in your mindset and Monday could be your new Friday.

Monday gives you another opportunity to start all over

Instead of dreading Mondays and groaning, think of it as an opportunity to start over again. Who says you need a new year to start over.  Like I stated in my new year’s post, I don’t believe in the “new year new beginning” slogan. You don’t need a new year to have a new beginning.

If you are  going to start someday or waiting for the  new year to come why not start now.  Also, think of the mistakes you made the previous week(s) or the task(s) you didn’t complete. Set you mind to complete those tasks and fix those mistakes.   That way you are starting the week with a goal and purpose.  It is imperative to have a goal in mind because it enables you to stay motivated and focused.

Monday gives you another opportunity to fuel your productivity

It is very important to start the week on a high note to be productive for the rest of the week.  Remember, there is always a reward for being productive. If you start the week low because it is the dreaded Monday, you might not yield enough rewards and that usually comes with some regrets and had I know.  Think of what you have to gain at the end of week if you are on top of your productivity from the beginning ( that is Monday).

Dress up, wear a beautiful smile and go about your business

There is nothing more satisfying than knowing you are about to influence change. The fact that you don’t like Monday shouldn’t cause you to look sad and unkempt. Dressing up have a way of motivating one and a smile is just the perfect accessory to go with it. Try this and see the how it will change your day.

Schedule/do something or an activity you like on Monday

When you have something you are looking forward to, it increases the excitement. I love the TV drama, law & order. That is one of my guilty pleasures.  I usually binge watch this series on the weekends.  But now, I watch two episodes on Monday nights.  After a long day at work, I roll up on my couch and enjoy the drama.

My Mondays are not complete without watching this series. As a result of that, I am always looking forward to Mondays. So do something you enjoy or reserve for the weekends on Mondays. It could be going for lunch with friends or family , going to the movies, working out,  or shopping etc.

monday morning

So the next time it is Monday shout for joy and be ready to conquer the week.
